Filling fresh air into the combustion chamber is what the fans mechanism is designed to do. This allows the systems gas to be burnt appropriately. When the combustion process is done, it will clear out the noxious gas. The system is intelligent enough to have safety parameters in position to avoid gas being passed through towards the main burner system if there is a fault in the fan.
